Back & sides of medium figured, beautifully flecked, radially sawn maple, the back in 2 pieces, bookmatched with grain descending from the centre join.
Neck and head of plain maple, also well quartered and flecked, the belly of 2 fine-grained pieces of pine. A full arch and elegant channelling front and back.
Fingerboard and tailpiece of ebony, the pegs of apricot wood with mammoth ivory pips. A golden orange amber oil varnish with earth pigments on a yellow ground.
The violin is set up in a Viennese classical style and has a full and brilliant tone of considerable projection and dynamic range.
