FLEMISH VIOLIN, 1700-1740.

A large violin (LOB = 359mm.) Lovely 2 piece figured maple back with matching sides, the sides set into a routed channel in the back; belly of strong grained, medium pine.

Large Amati style pattern with long broad corners and a high strong arching. The original scroll of pearwood spliced to a later neck.The violin is set up as a classical instrument with ebony fittings and fruitwood pegs. Recently restored by Ian Watchorn. Tonally very strong and even throughout the range.

In very good playing condition, and sold with a full restoration report.
